BMW car is set to launch the facelifted 7 Series in India on September 11, 2026. The updated flagship sedan brings significant changes to its exterior design, interior technology and powertrain options.
BMW had opened pre-bookings for the updated 7 Series and electric i7 in August. The facelift was first unveiled internationally earlier this year and is now arriving in the Indian market.
The biggest visual changes are concentrated at the front of the new 7 Series.
The luxury sedan gets redesigned split LED headlamps, with slim upper lighting elements and lower headlamp units positioned closer to the air curtains. The kidney grille has also been redesigned and gets an illuminated surround, giving the flagship sedan a more distinctive appearance.
The front bumper has been revised with larger air intakes, while the side profile remains broadly similar to the outgoing model. New alloy wheel designs and revised side elements further distinguish the facelifted version.
At the rear, the updated 7 Series gets slimmer LED tail-lamps, a redesigned boot lid and a revised bumper.
The interior receives a much more extensive update.
The dashboard has been redesigned around a large 17.9-inch central infotainment touchscreen. It is accompanied by a 14.6-inch passenger display and BMW's new Panoramic Vision display positioned across the lower section of the windscreen.
The facelifted sedan also gets a new four-spoke steering wheel inspired by BMW's latest-generation models.
The centre console and transmission tunnel have also been redesigned to give the cabin a cleaner and more modern appearance.
The rear cabin remains one of the biggest highlights of the BMW 7 Series.
The flagship sedan continues to offer a huge 31.3-inch 8K Theatre Screen for rear passengers. The updated screen now offers touchscreen functionality and supports entertainment features including video streaming and other connected functions.
Rear passengers also get dedicated controls integrated into the rear doors.
The luxury package is further enhanced with powered rear seats featuring heating, ventilation, massage and lumbar adjustment.
The updated 7 Series continues to offer a high-end audio system from Bowers & Wilkins with Dolby Atmos support.
Other premium equipment includes ambient lighting, a panoramic glass roof and four-zone automatic climate control.
BMW has also introduced several technology and software improvements as part of the facelift.
The facelifted 7 Series receives upgrades to its combustion-engine powertrains in international markets.
The 740i continues to use a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with 48V mild-hybrid technology. Its output rises to around 400hp and 580Nm.
The 740d continues with a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine, with output increased to around 313hp and 670Nm.
Both powertrains are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive in the updated international specification.
The exact India-specification powertrain lineup and variant details are expected to be confirmed by BMW at the launch.
Alongside the combustion-powered 7 Series, BMW is also updating the fully electric i7.
The facelifted i7 gets a larger 112.4kWh battery pack in both variants. The entry-level i7 50 also moves to all-wheel drive, while the performance-focused M70 xDrive receives increased power and torque.
The electric sedan also benefits from improved charging technology and updated efficiency and performance.
BMW has not yet officially confirmed the final India pricing of the facelifted 7 Series at the time of this report.
The outgoing BMW 7 Series currently starts at around ₹1.85 crore, ex-showroom, in India. The facelift is expected to command a higher price because of its additional technology and equipment.
The BMW 7 Series continues to compete against luxury sedans such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and other premium flagship models.

The facelifted BMW 7 Series is scheduled to make its Indian debut on September 11, 2026. BMW has already opened pre-bookings for the updated flagship sedan.
With its redesigned exterior, significantly upgraded dashboard, larger displays, advanced rear-seat entertainment and updated engines, the new 7 Series is expected to strengthen BMW's position in India's premium luxury sedan segment.
BMW is also launching the facelifted i7 alongside the 7 Series, giving buyers the choice between conventional combustion powertrains and a fully electric flagship sedan.
