Renault is preparing to expand the Triber lineup with a new turbo-petrol powertrain, and the upcoming model has now been spotted testing in Pune. More significantly, the test vehicle appears to be equipped with a factory-fitted CNG system, suggesting that Renault could introduce a Turbo-CNG version of its seven-seat compact MPV.
The latest test mule carries a clearly visible Turbo badge on the tailgate, while a CNG sticker on the rear windscreen further indicates that the vehicle is being evaluated with a dual-fuel setup. The sighting comes ahead of the expected launch of the Triber Turbo in September 2026.
The current Renault Triber uses a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces approximately 72 hp and 96 Nm of torque. While the engine is adequate for everyday city driving, performance can feel limited when the MPV is carrying seven passengers along with luggage.
The upcoming turbo version is expected to use Renault's 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which is already used in models such as the Kiger and Nissan Magnite. In those applications, the engine develops approximately 100 hp and 160 Nm of torque.
The additional torque should provide a noticeable improvement in acceleration, highway cruising and overtaking, particularly when the Triber is being driven with a full passenger and luggage load.
A five-speed manual gearbox is expected to be offered with the turbo engine. Renault could also introduce an automatic transmission option, potentially making the more powerful Triber easier to drive in heavy urban traffic.

Turbo-CNG Setup Could Be the Biggest Highlight
The most interesting aspect of the latest test vehicle is its apparent CNG configuration. Renault is expected to introduce a factory-fitted CNG system alongside the turbocharged engine.
For a three-row MPV, maintaining usable boot space is particularly important. The expected CNG system could therefore use a dual-cylinder arrangement mounted beneath the boot floor, helping Renault minimise the impact on luggage capacity.
The company has not yet disclosed the power and torque figures for the Turbo-CNG version. Performance could also differ from the petrol-only model because of the characteristics of CNG fuel.
If introduced, the combination of turbocharging and factory-fitted CNG could give the Triber a distinctive advantage by offering stronger performance along with potentially lower running costs.
The upcoming Triber powertrain upgrade is also linked to changes to the vehicle's underlying architecture. The MPV is expected to use a revised platform known as the Renault Group Entry Platform (RGEP).
The previous architecture reportedly created limitations related to packaging and safety requirements, making it difficult to accommodate the more powerful turbo engine. The revised architecture is expected to provide additional flexibility for integrating the turbocharged powertrain as well as the CNG hardware.
This platform update could therefore play an important role in allowing Renault to offer more power without significantly changing the Triber's compact dimensions and three-row layout.
In terms of styling, the test vehicle does not appear to receive major exterior changes compared with the recently updated Triber. The Turbo badge is currently one of the most noticeable differences seen on the test mule.
The cabin is expected to retain the Triber's practical seven-seat configuration and existing equipment. Depending on the variant, expected features could include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control and rain-sensing wipers.
Safety equipment is also expected to remain a key part of the package, with features such as six airbags, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS and EBD likely to continue.
The Renault Triber Turbo is expected to be launched in India in September 2026. The CNG version could arrive around the same period, although Renault has yet to officially confirm the exact launch schedule or specifications.
The current Triber is priced from approximately Rs 5.81 lakh, ex-showroom, and the new turbo and CNG versions are expected to carry a premium over the existing naturally aspirated variants.
