Upcoming Bajaj Dual-Sport Motorcycle Range Could Get Multiple Engine Options

Bajaj Auto could be preparing a wider range of dual-sport motorcycles, with multiple engine options potentially planned for different markets. The development follows comments from Waldyr Ferreira, executive director of Bajaj’s Brazilian operations, suggesting that the company’s upcoming trail motorcycle project may expand beyond a single model.

The move could help Bajaj reach a broader group of riders, from those looking for an affordable motorcycle for daily commuting and occasional rough-road use to customers seeking a more capable machine for longer rides and adventure touring.

Bajaj Could Develop a Family of Dual-Sport Motorcycles

Bajaj has been testing a new adventure-style motorcycle that has attracted attention because of its tall stance, rugged design and off-road-oriented hardware. While early sightings pointed towards a single model, the latest comments suggest that the company could explore multiple motorcycles with different engine capacities.

Offering different engine options would allow Bajaj to target riders with varying budgets and riding requirements. A smaller-capacity motorcycle could focus on affordability, manageable performance and everyday usability, while a larger version could appeal to riders who want more power for highways and longer journeys.

However, Bajaj has not yet disclosed the final model range, engine sizes or specifications. It also remains unclear whether the company will develop entirely new powertrains or adapt engines from its existing motorcycle portfolio.

What Could Power the Upcoming Bajaj Dual-Sport?

The company already has experience with several engine platforms across its commuter and performance motorcycle ranges. These include smaller-capacity engines as well as larger units used in the Pulsar family. Such platforms could provide a starting point for a new dual-sport motorcycle, although no engine has been officially confirmed for the upcoming model.

Earlier reports have suggested that an engine around the 250cc mark could be considered for the India-spec motorcycle. The Pulsar N250's 249cc engine has been discussed as a possible candidate, but this remains speculation rather than a confirmed technical detail.

The final engine choice will likely depend on the motorcycle's intended role, price positioning, emissions requirements and the needs of individual markets. Bajaj could also choose different engine configurations for different countries instead of offering an identical range worldwide.

Design and Hardware: What Spy Images Suggest

Test sightings of the upcoming motorcycle have revealed a tall riding stance, wire-spoke wheels, a raised front fender and an upswept exhaust. The bike has also been seen with a narrow, single-piece seat and a front-and-rear wheel combination that appears to use a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel.

These elements point towards a motorcycle designed to handle a mix of paved roads and uneven surfaces. The wheel arrangement could offer a balance between road manners and light off-road ability, although its actual performance will depend on the final suspension setup, tyres, ground clearance and weight.

A digital instrument cluster has also been visible in test images. The production model's final equipment list, including lighting, connectivity features, riding modes and safety systems, has not been announced.

Expected Positioning and Rivals

If launched in India, Bajaj's new dual-sport motorcycle could compete in the accessible adventure and off-road motorcycle category. Potential alternatives for buyers include the Hero XPulse 210 and Kawasaki KLX 230, depending on the final price, performance and intended use of the Bajaj model.

A range with different engine capacities could help the company serve both entry-level riders and customers seeking more performance. Pricing will be especially important in India, where buyers often compare purchase cost, maintenance expenses, fuel efficiency and everyday comfort before choosing an adventure-style motorcycle.

The motorcycle is also expected to be relevant to international markets, particularly Latin America, where trail-style motorcycles are popular for commuting and riding on varied road surfaces. Reports have indicated that the first model could reach Latin American markets before the end of 2026, but an official launch schedule has yet to be announced.

What to Expect Next

Bajaj's potential dual-sport range could become an important addition to its motorcycle portfolio, giving buyers another option beyond conventional street motorcycles. Multiple engine sizes would allow the brand to create distinct products for different budgets and experience levels.

For now, the project remains under development, and the company has not confirmed the final model names, engine capacities, prices or India launch date. More details are expected as testing progresses and Bajaj moves closer to an official announcement.

Until then, buyers should treat the reported engine options and specifications as provisional rather than final production details.
