Mahindra is preparing to expand its BE electric SUV lineup with the upcoming BE 7, which is expected to become the second model in the brand’s Born Electric range. Multiple test vehicles have been spotted recently, indicating that development and road testing are progressing ahead of its expected launch.
Recent spy images show two Mahindra BE 7 test mules testing together, wearing different camouflage. While the overall production design appears to be taking shape, some exterior elements, particularly the rear lighting, still look temporary, suggesting that testing is not yet complete.
The production-spec BE 7 is expected to retain several design elements previewed by the BE 07 concept. One of the key highlights will be its frameless doors, which could give the electric SUV a distinctive and premium appearance.
The SUV is expected to feature a sharp and angular design with a strong road presence. Spy shots reveal sleek LED headlamps with vertically extended elements, while the concept-inspired C-shaped lighting signature is expected to remain a major design feature.
Other expected highlights include flush-fitting door handles, thick C-pillars, wide rear haunches, geometric wheel-arch cladding and roof rails. The alloy wheel design also appears similar to the setup seen on Mahindra’s larger electric SUV models.
The latest spy images provide a closer look at the BE 7’s cabin. The electric SUV is expected to feature Mahindra’s triple-screen dashboard layout, with three 12.3-inch displays positioned side-by-side across the dashboard.
The cabin is likely to feature a modern, technology-focused design with a steering wheel similar to other Mahindra electric SUVs. Touch-based controls are expected to replace many traditional physical buttons, while the centre console could feature a toggle-style gear selector and touch-operated functions.
Expected equipment could include ADAS, premium Harman audio, self-parking technology and Mahindra’s Adrenox infotainment system.
The BE 7 could share its electric powertrain technology with Mahindra’s existing Born Electric models. It is expected to be offered with 65kWh and 79kWh battery options, while rear-wheel drive could be offered as standard.
Mahindra is expected to target a real-world driving range of more than 500km, although final specifications will be confirmed closer to launch.
The upcoming BE 7 is shaping up to be one of Mahindra’s most technology-focused electric SUVs, combining a futuristic exterior, frameless doors and a triple-screen cabin with a practical long-range electric powertrain.
